This year, The MS Great 8 Foundation will embark on yet another journey aimed at raising the public awareness of Multiple Sclerosis in America today as well as to ultimately help find a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.

The 3rd Annual
MS Great 8 – 8 State Tour
October 7th – 14th 2012

In 2010, The MS Great 8 Foundation began increasing the scope of their challenge by organizing their inaugural 8 Day - 8 State Tour in August of 2010. With EMD Serono continuing their past support of the Foundation and its mission, 10 cyclists “hit the road” for 8 days, rode their bikes from Washington D.C. to Rockland, MA, raised a great deal of public awareness around MS, and raised $116,000 in support of The National MS Society. Every dollar raised by these cyclists went directly to the MS Society (with the exception of credit card fees). All this could not have been possible without you!

In 2011, The MS Great 8 Foundation, once again led by Destination Cycling and supported by EMD Serono, moved forward with its second annual 8 state tour; from Rockland, MA to Washington D.C. We increased the size of the tour AND our fundraising goal. With great success, 16 cyclists came together and raised a total $160,000 for The National MS Society as well as created media and press opportunities to highlight the plight Multiple Sclerosis to the American public.

On the heels of this last successful tour, we are pleased to announce our biggest and most challenging cycling event to date:

8 States in 8 Days - MAINE to NYC

Beginning on Sunday, October 7th 2012, 20 cyclists will start pedaling in Maine and finish their trek 8 days later in the middle of New York City. Along the way, we will be meeting various members and support facilities of the MS community as we challenge ourselves with our most aggressive as well as inspiring tour. With a fundraising goal of $200,000, we will ride a coastal route through Maine and New Hampshire. We will then power through the hills of Massachusetts and Connecticut (with a dip through Rhode Island). We will also experience the beauty of the Hudson River as we climb the hills of Bear Mountain. And we will finish up the last few stages of this grand tour cycling through northern New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and finally NYC!

The goals of The MS Great 8 Foundation remain to raise public awareness about Multiple Sclerosis, raise funds that go directly to various chapters of the National MS Society and inspire those diagnosed with MS to take charge of their lives and not let MS control them.

We want to keep Multiple Sclerosis in America’s thoughts for 8 days.
•We want people living with MS to see that they can “do it”

•We want those people who are caring for people with MS to be reminded why “it’s worth it”
•And we want to let all others understand why it’s so important to
end Multiple Sclerosis today

Registration is now open….So, lets get going!
•Talk it up!

•Tell a friend!

•Tell two friends!

•Let’s start getting our “troops together”!

The ride will be limited to 20 cyclists, raising a minimum of $5,000, on a first-come-first-serve basis. So please, email us at cycling@msgreat8.org and let us know if you plan to join us again and if you have any other cyclists joining as well.

Also, continue to visit our website at: www.msgreat8.org where you can remind yourself of some great memories as well as get the latest information about the 2012 ride as it unfolds.

Once again, we thank you … we miss you … we love you!

Life with MS can be very difficult ... but hope makes even the tough days worthwhile. Thank you for keeping the hope alive.
